ACCOUNTING FOR NON ACCOUNTANTS

This course is expected to cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to Accounting.
  • Introduction to adjustments and completion of the accounting cycle.
  • Basic Financial Statements (Income Statement and Balance Sheet).
  • The Cash Flow Statement. . Inventory methods & Depreciation methods.

Day 1:

  • Introduction to Accounting.
  • Illustrate the different assumptions of accounting and analyze the effects of business transactions on the basic accounting equation.

Day 2:

  • Define debits and credits and identify the basic steps in the recording process.
  • Explaining by the use of a numerical example the recording process in accounting.
  • Introduction to accrual accounting and the matching principal and introduction to adjusting entries.

Day 3:

  • Introducing the cash flow statement and identifying each of the operating, investing and financing activities.
  • Illustrate the different methods of Inventory and illustrating the effect of each on the financial statements.

Day 4:

  • Illustrate the different methods of depreciation showing the effect of each on the financial statements, illustrating the disposal of fixed assets.
